Bernd Gieseking, cabaret artist and bestselling author, is coming to the BÜZ with a special evening. Gieseking has been writing his monthly column "Giesekings Flüstertüte" for the Mindener Tageblatt for five years. He presents texts from these five years, columns about life, which is also a chronicle, a review, a diary. And of course Gieseking chats along the way, as if you were sitting at a bar with him. Witty and approachable, ironic and self-deprecating, as personal as he is knowledgeable and above all: funny!"
Gieseking called his column "Whispering Bag" as a reminiscence of his school days in Minden. He was coxswain of the Bessel eight, the highlight of which was an international regatta in Paris. The helmsmen of that time used "speaking tubes", whispering bags, for the commands and when they cheered on their team.
When Gieseking moved back to Minden just over five years ago, the Mindener Tageblatt took this as an opportunity to ask him, the long-time TAZ and radio columnist, whether he could imagine writing regularly.
In his columns, he has been writing about East Westphalia and the world ever since, about the East Westphalian character and their quirks, about lawn clippings and spindle mowers, about Merkel's departure and the arrival of corona, about the neighbors moving out, about Stippgrütze at mom's and kale pizza in a lantern. The Whispering Bag is a personal diary and chronicle of the times. Gieseking writes about his lost cell phone as well as the dwindling ice in the Arctic,
