39 Years of Running Fun: Büren Fun Run on August 21, 2026
Tradition Meets Enthusiasm – The Region’s Top Sporting Event

The Büren Fun Run, organized by SV 21 Büren, has long been a staple of the region’s sports calendar. For 39 years now, it has been inspiring runners of all ages—from experienced athletes to ambitious children and teenagers—and attracts hundreds of participants to the Büren area every year.

The 39th edition of this traditional race will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026. Starting at 4:00 p.m., the “Am Bruch” stadium at Spielenweg 4 will become the gathering place for the regional and national running community. Organization and execution are in the hands of SV 21 Büren e.V., Track and Field Division. Registration is now open and can be completed conveniently and easily via the website www.büren-läuft.de.

A Wide Range of Events for All Running Enthusiasts
The tried-and-true competition program remains unchanged: The 200-meter ARGUS Bambini Run invites all kindergarteners to take to the tartan track. Schoolchildren will compete in the 800-meter race—presented this year for the first time as the 800-meter FLAiR Restaurant Children’s Run and the 800-meter AiREA Airport Hotel Schoolchildren’s Run. For adults and teams, there’s the 5-km m&s Corporate Run and the 5-km KFO Büren Run. More challenging routes await participants in the 10.3-km ProjectPartner Fun Run or the 17.5-km FTFSander Fun Run. Thus, the Büren Fun Run offers the right athletic
challenge.

Unique Routes Through the Büren Region
The starting gun is fired at the “Am Bruch” stadium for each race. The varied routes take runners past the Büren outdoor pool and through the idyllic Jühengrund, among other places, before they continue along the scenic Afte River toward Hegensdorf. “Many participants love coming back to us time and again just for the beautiful and thoroughly challenging routes,” emphasizes Christian Melzer of SV 21 Büren.

Part of the Hochstift Cup Series
The Büren Fun Run is part of the renowned Hochstift Cup: The 5-km KFOBüren Run, the 10.3-km ProjectPartner Fun Run, and the 17.5-km FTF Sander Fun Run are all part of this popular running series. New this year is that the 5-km m&s Corporate Run will also count toward the Hochstift Cup standings.

State-of-the-art timing and optimal organization
Thanks to electronic transponders, each participant’s time is recorded with precision. Results are available online immediately after the event. Start times are scheduled so that athletes can complete multiple races if they wish.

Attractive supporting program and strong partners
The organizing team has once again put together a colorful supporting program: Free non-alcoholic beverages for all participants, along with a wide selection of coffee, cake, and grilled food, ensure excellent refreshments and a great atmosphere. As usual, the DLRG Büren will ensure safety along the course. The Büren Fun Run is supported by numerous established partners, including the Krombacher Brewery, REWE, Sebapharma, and FREY Nutrition®. Long-standing sponsors such as m&s Sprossenelemente, ARGUS Additive Plastics, Dr. Benedikt Verneuer’s Orthodontic Practice, and the Büren-based agency ProjectPartner Kleeschulte are once again serving as title sponsors for the races. New to the lineup this year is the AiREA-Airporthotel Paderborn, based in Büren-Ahden, together with the FLAiR Restaurant. The company, located at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport, is supporting the children’s and school races.

“It’s important to us that all participants feel comfortable and that we’re remembered as good hosts. That’s why we place great emphasis on a varied supporting program and a warm atmosphere,” emphasizes Christian Simon of SV 21 Büren.

End-of-Summer Celebration at the Open-Air Summer Event
Afterward, the Open-Air-Sommer in the courtyard of Büren City Hall invites all participants and visitors to enjoy a festive conclusion to the sports day.
