"The monastery should, if possible, be laid out in such a way that everything necessary, namely water, mill and garden, is located within the monastery and the various types of crafts can be practiced there." A look at the Rule of St. Benedict (Chapter 66) shows that even 1,500 years ago, monastic life was linked to the art of horticulture.

Dalheim Monastery opens its gardens on the "Day of Gardens and Parks in Westphalia-Lippe" (June 14 and 15).

Visits to the gardens and the museum are free on these days. Participation in the public guided tours costs 3 euros per adult, children are free.
