A dark journey into the time of witch hunts - visitors can experience this at the Bad Oeynhausen Fairytale Museum. Christina Langhorst will guide you through the current special exhibition ("Witchcraft. Faith. Power. Fear"). The exhibition has been touring Germany's museums for three years with great success. It shows how a mass fear of evil witchcraft developed in a short space of time and who profited from it.
Between 1450 and 1750, around 60,000 people fell victim to the witch craze. Over 70 original exhibits show how paranoia, superstition and the desire for power poisoned entire communities - including real trial records and instruments of torture, magical talismans and replicas of devilish animals.
The tour is suitable for courageous people aged 10 and over and includes a visit to the permanent exhibition.
