The Swiss-French painter and graphic artist Félix Vallotton (1865–1925) is considered one of the most unconventional artists of European modernism around 1900. With cool precision, he observed society and human interactions, creating a detached, clear visual language.
In Herford, the Ahlers Pro Arte Foundation is presenting Vallotton’s work in an expanded exhibition. Loans from a major Swiss private collection, along with complementary works from the Ahlers Collection, offer an overview of landscapes, still lifes, and nudes—from his early years to his late work. His woodcut art is particularly noteworthy. His modern work remains relevant.
