There's a lot going on at the official opening ceremony for the new archaeological window at Herford Minster.

In the new museum building and around the cathedral church there is a varied program for young and old, guests from Herford and also "from further afield".

Highlights on Saturday are the film preview with the well-known actress Katharina Thalbach, the concert by the Northwest German Philharmonic Orchestra on the Rathausplatz (in the Münsterkirche if it rains) and a subsequent fire show, which takes place at various locations on the festival grounds.
There is also an exciting program on Sunday until around 6 pm.




The program on Saturday, 23 August:

11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Service with ceremony
11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Various program points on the event grounds in and around the Herford Minster Church with expert appraisal hours where you can have your own porcelain evaluated, digging opportunities for mini-archaeologists. A baroque tea party around 1800, medieval juggling, time travel with the Herford tour guides, retro art, craft workshops, a guided tour of the museum depot and hands-on archaeology.
5 - 6 p.m. Musical vespers in the church
6 - 6.30 p.m. Film preview with Katharina Thalbach, Andreas Sawall and
chief archaeologist Matthias Wemhoff
19 - 20.30 Concert by the Nordwesdeutsche Philharmonie
from 10 pm fire shows

The program on Saturday, 23 August:

10 - 11 a.m. Church service in the Minster Church
12 - 6 p.m. Various program items on the event grounds with medieval jugglers, soap bubble art, historical costumes, workshops, Gregorian chants, guided tours of the town, archaeology and the museum depot and an abbess who will have a "clever and flaming" exchange with an important philosopher.
5 - 6 p.m. Musical Vespers in the Minster Church
