A rich history at the Alte Brennerei - grain and gin are now followed by rum

The team at the "Alte Brennerei" museum in Hille is expanding its range of tastings to include the traditional Caribbean drink. The first rum tasting will take place there on November 29 at 7 p.m.
Rum is also known as the "liquid gold of the South Seas". Many people associate the Caribbean with sun, beaches and palm trees. Some spirits connoisseurs think of rolling sugar cane fields, remote distilleries and the scent of rum. It is one of the most fascinating and popular alcoholic drinks - pure or in cocktails.

In the past, sugar cane schnapps was also processed and sold as genuine Jamaican rum or rum blends at the Chr. Meyer grain distillery.
Today, the selection of bottlings is huge - but where do the many different rum characteristics come from?

During the newly developed tasting, the museum guides not only serve exclusive rum specialties, but also explain and show your guests interesting details from the production to the storage of the diverse spirit.

"This tasting is like a little vacation in between and is intended for people who want to get to know the predominantly sweet product," promises museum guide Bernd Beyer, who, as a rum lover, came up with the idea.

His colleague Rainer Eschedor says: "The rum tasting fits in perfectly with our successful grain and gin tastings." The offers are constantly changing. Extra dates can be arranged for groups of 10 or more people.
