Westphalia celebrates its anniversary!
Westphalia has taken many different forms throughout history - from a mysterious first mention to a duchy and a kingdom to a Prussian province.
At the LWL Museum in the Kaiserpfalz in Paderborn, visitors can trace the history of Westphalia at an important site of the Saxon Wars, a base of Charlemagne. From 16 May 2025 to 1 March 2026, a special exhibition covering around a thousand square meters invites visitors to discover the multifaceted development of the region since it was first mentioned in 775 - through art historical, historical and archaeological exhibits.
