Paderborn is once again attracting the attention of the art scene in 2025, as the "Tatort Paderborn" series invites you to a major exhibition of art in public spaces for the third time from June 28 to October 5, 2025. In cooperation with the Paderborn Municipal Museums and Galleries, Ausstellungsgesellschaft Paderborn has been able to recruit Marijke Lukowicz as artistic director and Sophia Trollmann as co-curator for the project.
The exhibition "The river is me" is dedicated to the Pader and its special significance for the city. The works of art are created along the river that gave Paderborn its name and has been of great importance to people for centuries, whether as a source of livelihood, an object of use or a recreational space. The exhibition explores the role that the Pader plays for Paderborn today. What would it be like to see it as an equal citizen of the city? What new perspectives arise when the river is seen not just as a natural phenomenon, but as part of urban life? By combining art and nature, the exhibition opens up unusual perspectives on the interplay between the city and the river.
A diverse supporting and educational program accompanies the exhibition, including workshops, talks and guided walks and bike tours.
The art event is supported and sponsored by the Förderstiftung Paderborn, Kunststiftung NRW and Stiftung der Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold.
