Jan Luley & Ginea Wolf

Tribute To Nina Simone

Jan Luley & Ginea "Adi" Wolf

With "Tribute to Nina Simone", the outstanding singer Ginea Adi Wolf and pianist Jan Luley present an impressive tribute to one of the most versatile and important artists of the 20th century. Nina Simone not only left her mark on the jazz and blues scene, but also fused genres such as gospel, classical music and soul, thus becoming the voice of the African-American freedom movement. Her music conveyed an unmistakable mixture of pain, resistance and hope.

Ginea Adi Wolf, known for her multifaceted and profound voice, brings the spirit of the "High Priestess of Soul" to life, while Jan Luley on piano captures both Simone's virtuosity and emotional versatility with a wide stylistic range. Together they create a concert full of intensity and authenticity that brings Simone's musical legacy to life and celebrates her powerful message for equality and freedom.

Ginea "Adi" Wolf is originally from Bermuda and came to Germany via London. The singer, songwriter, actress and painter, who lives in Hamburg, is "the voice to be heard", as the magazine "L'Afritude" wrote. Her voice, which masters every nuance between a silky breath and the eruption of a volcano, combines emotion with passion and manages to transport her listeners to other worlds. The music flows naturally from her and is emotionally profound to powerfully rousing. Her career is characterized by numerous appearances and leading roles in films and musicals, such as the leading role of Billie Holiday in "The Billie Holiday Story" or in shows like "Showboat" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". In 2012, she sang at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London at Trafalgar Square. She brings her wide-ranging artistic experience to the stage with her distinctive voice and impressive performances in her shows between soul, blues, rock and swing.

Jan Luley is one of the most outstanding European pianists. With his mostly melodic and groovy style, he refers to the stylistic diversity of jazz history between tradition and modernity. The German pianist, composer and singer, who regularly spends time in New Orleans, where he also organizes group tours, studied jazz piano in Arnhem in the Netherlands. At the same time, he learned from the pianists in New Orleans and has been closely involved with the music scene there for over two decades. Combining influences from classical jazz, blues, gospel and Creole music with elements of contemporary listening and playing habits, Jan Luley finds his very own musical statement with a high recognition factor.
